Ashmont was first urbanised in the late 1950s, with large-scale development through the 1970s. Ashmont is inside the Wagga Wagga City Council area, so the city's rules apply: approval is needed for any living tree 8 metres or taller, native vegetation in a wetland, and any tree on the Significant or Heritage register regardless of size.
